January 15, 2013. The 40th professional skills contest for young electricians was held at Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ), a member of Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK). The first such competition was coordinated in December 1972.
Under the terms of the competition, the contestants had to answer a theoretical quiz and to fulfill some practical tasks with the electric equipment. Their performance was evaluated on the basis of whether the assembled devices complied with their layout and design, whether the controlling tools and the measurements were right, and whether the wiremen complied with the labor protection and industrial safety requirements.
In the final round of the contest, Evgeny Zyuzyev from the slitting units department TESTs-2 was declared Seversky Pipe Plant’s best electrician in the year 2012. The winner got a payment rate upgrade and a money prize. In addition, Zyuzyev received a unique prize from the plant’s long-service employees: the very first professional skills contest participant’s token issued in 1973.
‘Mastering today’s technologies means the company workers have to keep on working on their professional development all the time. Creating such learning- and improvement-inducing environment for enhancing our employees’ technical and scientific expertise is one of Seversky Pipe Plant’s performance traditions,’ says STZ Managing Director Mikhail Zuyev.
