Seversky Pipe Plant holds Mentor of the Year contest

July 11, 2014. Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ, a member enterprise of Pipe Metallurgical Company/TMK) finished off its Mentor of the Year contest.
According to the corporation's press service, 16 contestants from the plant's departments and divisions competed for the title. During the first stage which took off in May, the committee of jurors assessed the candidates' professional achievements over the last three years against the following criteria: presence on project teams; improvement proposals and activity; professional skills competitions; and professional development. The jury members also took into account such professional success indicators as obtaining a second or a similar qualification; ongoing learning via correspondence courses; skills upgrade; taking part in professional skills contest and other company events. During the second stage, mentors had to do a test and complete a practical task.
Five of SinTZ employees were declared best mentors: electric equipment repair and maintenance electrician Alexander Kuznetsov and leading electronics engineer Andrei Butorin from Department 1, oxygen-cutting operator from the drop-hammer plant Alexei Akayev, foreman for finishing, sorting, and acceptance of ready produce Sergey Zavyalov from Department 2, and electrician Anatoly Popov from the electrical department.
As a matter of fact, the plant's daughter enterprise Polevskoy Technical Service coordinated the same contest: repairman Nikolai Nasonov and electric furnace steel smelter Alexei Kalyrgin were declared the company's two best mentors. The contest winners were given awards during the young metallurgists initiation ceremony.
