Over 670,000 Cars Registered in Yekaterinburg

Over 670,000 automobiles are registered in Yekaterinburg as of the beginning of the year 2013; this means there are 450 cars per every 1,000 residents, which is one of Russia’s greatest figures. Last year, over 15bn RUR worth of cars were sold in the local motor shows, Yekaterinburg Council’s press office reports.
The number of car owners proved actually higher in Yekaterinburg than in Moscow or Saint Petersburg, where there are no more than 400 cars per every 1,000 people. According to the experts’ estimates, the number of 900 to 950 cars per every 1,000 residents signals the ultimate saturation of the market.
Remarkably, quite a few expensive automobiles are being driven around the city. Yekaterinburg State Road Traffic Safety Inspection says that 1,289 Toyota Land Cruiser units, 426 Audi Q7 (Q8) ones, over 2,500 Lexus ones, 504 Porsche Cayenne ones, 335 BMW 7 ones, 745 BMW X5 ones, and more than 130 BMW X6 units are currently registered in the city.
