Uralvagonzavod Holds Talks on Cooperation with Serbia

December 3, 2012. Russian Vice Premier Dmitri Rogozin had a chance to discuss issues related to military and technological cooperation, including Serbian military vehicles upgrades by the Russian parties, during his recent trip to Serbia. He held talks with the Serbian President Stanislav Nikolic, Prime Minister and Internal Affairs Minister Ivica Dačić, and Vice Premier and Defense Minister Alexander Vucic, Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s press service reports.

Uralvagonzavod Scientific & Production Corporation’s Director-General Oleg Sienko was one of the members of the Russian delegation. He took part in the negotiations dedicated to the two parties’ wider cooperation scope. For one, it was proposed that the two countries’ industrial enterprises could do business together in the fields of aviation industry modernization, supply of heavy-duty and light-armored vehicles, and production of ammunition.

In the course of the talks, the Serbian party was presented the business proposals of some Russian enterprises regarding modernization of armored vehicles that are currently being used by the Serbian Armed Forces.

‘Our experts have looked into the potential of setting up a defense industry enterprise in Serbia and came to the conclusion that Serbia is quite capable of making certain competitive products,’ Rogozin said.
