Uralvagonzavod’s Drill Units Get Compliance Certificates
6 September 2012 (09:33)
Uralvagonzavod’s most promising machinery – portable drill units MBR-125 and MBR-160 – have been certified for compliance with the standards, so now they are in the marketable products category and can break into the O&G equipment market, Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s press service reports.
These portable drill units were developed within the framework of a large-scale program for the design and launch of new kinds of civil-purpose vehicles. MBR-125 and MBR-160 are meant for the ongoing repairs and capital overhauls of wells and for drilling the wells with wellhead pressure up to 35 MPa as well as for developing the natural gas, gas-condensate, and oil wells that are up to 5,000m deep.
The first pilot samples of MBR-125 and MBR-160 were assembled at Uralvagonzavod in January 2010 and were presented to the general public at the 6th International Exhibition Russian Defense Expo 2010, where they were praised highly by the O&G industry experts. The certificate of compliance was only issued two years later because the plant’s experts had to handle such complex equipment (that has been designed for dangerous production facilities and therefore has to meet the highest certification standards) for the first time in their careers.
To carry out only two tests of the units, it was necessary to design, manufacture and assemble a unique static and dynamic test stand with the capacity of 250 tons! The objectivity of the results can be proved by the fact that everything happening at the stand tests, including all the parameters, was automatically recorded by a computer.
By now, all the safety, environmental, and labor protection requirements have been met, so these MBRs are not just pilot makes but fully-fledged marketable goods. They are expected to be produced at Ishimbay-based Vityaz (a member of Uralvagonzavod Corporation).
