22 August 2012 (09:28)
Uralvagonzavod’s innovative product was given a compliance certificate. Now the multi-purpose vehicle is classed as a commercial product and can be offered to customers.
The certification of TMB-2 was quite a success. All the safety, environmental, and labor protection requirements have been met, so now the product is not just a pilot sample but a full-fledged commercial output.
The next stage is getting permission from Rostechnadzor, which will mean the vehicle can be used on the Russian territory. The permission will only be granted in the fall. For the time being, TMB-2 will take part in the annual Defense & Protection Exhibition in Nizhniy Tagil on August 22-25; all the potential customers have been invited to this event. The first contracts are expected to be signed right there at the fair.
TMB-2 was first presented to the general public at TransRossiya 2012 Exhibition: it aroused a lot of interest on the part of the customers then. The amount of orders is already increasingly large.
Not only the railway companies but also other enterprises have shown an interest in the new vehicle. For one, the Ministry of Emergencies, which has already asked for the motor vehicle chassis to be adjusted for their needs, is one of them. The vehicle has great potential, so one can be positive that TMB-2 has a bright future ahead of it on both the Russian and the international civil vehicles market.
TMB-2 is a totally new product from Uralvagonzavod. This is a multi-purpose vehicle that can use both wheels and railways. It was designed within the framework of a large-scale program for the development and launch of new kinds of civil vehicles, which is currently one of Uralvagonzavod Corporation’s top priorities in strategic development.
