28 August 2012 (09:14)

Sinara Pipe Plant, a member of Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) coordinated a professional competence contest among the company’s young foremen. This was done within the framework of a multi-faceted personnel involvement program and the Youth Project, TMK’s press service reports.

The board of jurors comprised some representatives of the HR Department, the Personnel Training & Development Center, and the plant’s trade union committee.

Ten finalists, all of them in the under-35 age group and winners of the department-level contests, took part in the final stage of the competition. First, they had to practice self-presentation. The next stage, dubbed ‘Managerial Contest,’ was a dialogue where each of the two participants had to achieve a solution to the artificially modeled clash that would be to his advantage. Finally, the jurors compared the interlocutors’ conduct while the latter were trying to resolve their pre-modeled conflict.

The third prize was given to Vadim Voinkov from the Non-Intrusive Control & Diagnostics Lab, the second prize went to Alexei Lobanov from Pipe-Drawing Shop 3, and Vitaly Zobin from the Electric Department was declared the winner. All the contestants were given diplomas, and all the winners will receive money prizes, while the first prize winner will also have a motivational title of Sinara Pipe Plant’s Best Young Foreman 2012 written in his work record card.

‘A foreman is a key link in the production process, which is why his skills, expertise, and competences have to meet strict requirements. This job means increased responsibility and the need to continuously improve not only one’s professional skills but also personal qualities. Our contest has shown that the plant’s young foremen are very good at solving the challenges set before them,’ says Sinara Pipe Plant’s Managing Director Sergey Chetverikov.
