Uralvagonzavod to Present New Tractor at Defense 2012

Uralvagonzavod Scientific Production Corporation will present its new tractor RT-M-160U with a firefighting device at the 7th International Exhibition Defense & Protection 2012. The new tractor is a modified version of the wheel agricultural tractor the plant has been making since 2004.
In July 2011, Kurgan Region Government’s Forestry Department appealed to Uralvagonzavod, asking to complement tractor RT-M-160U with a special firefighting device. It took the plant’s engineers six months to fulfill this task, and by the end of 2011, this Nizhniy Tagil-based enterprise shipped four tractors to Kurgan Region.
This new tractor by Uralvagonzavod earned a great reputation at once.
‘A modern vehicle that is both necessary and popular,’ experts say of this RT-M-160U tractor. In addition to the request from Kurgan Region Government’s Forestry Department, more orders were placed soon. Similar vehicles, in their customized versions, are now used in Volgograd, Kirov, and Verkhnyaya Pyshma.
RT-M-160U has been fitted with a plough, a pushing device, a pump, and some firefighting vessels. The tractor is protected from all sides: from below, from above (from the falling trees), and on the sides where the glasses are (from branches and boughs). The cabin is air conditioned. The tractor is also fitted with a powerful headlight that can show the way three to four kilometers ahead.
Another great advantage lies in the tractor’s great mobility, which means it can move around quickly depending on the fire situation. The new tractor RT-M-160U can easily pass though the forest and impassable tracks and deliver water to the seats of fire, Uralvagonzavod’s press service reports.
