Central Partnership Wants to Make Kolizey Movie Theater Pay 500,000 RUR

The Russian movie and TV series maker Central Partnership is now suing three movie theaters which did not pay for using the motion pictures produced by the company. The distributor company insists on being paid the interest it is owed for the running of the movies. The three non-payers’ debt amounts to a total of 1.5m RUR, Marker reports.

The defendants in the case are the heads of Barnaul-based AltayConcert, Yekaterinburg-based ALT (Kolizey Club), and Tver-based DK-Tver. The distributor demands to be paid the interest it is entitled to under the movie-broadcasting agreement. The debt totals to 1.5m RUR.

The claims against ALT (Kolizey Club) come to 543,076.7 RUR. The claim was placed with Moscow Arbitration Court on July 13, 2012.

The movie maker told Marker that dozens of provincial theaters failed to pay on time, but it did not happen often that things had to go to court. Under the contract, the movie theaters that run the motion pictures must give 50% of the ticket sales revenues to the distributors and pay for the copy of the film into the bargain.
