Yekaterinburg authorities ban Philip Morris’s Metro-Party

13 April 2012 (09:14)

The Metro-Party that Philip Morris Sales & Marketing had planned to hold in Yekaterinburg underground is not going to take place after all.

Philip Morris Sales & Marketing confirms that it had meant to have a selective-entry event for adult smokers at Dynamo underground station in Yekaterinburg on April 12, 2012.

‘We have many years’ experience of organizing parties for adult tobacco consumers; these are always held in strict accordance with the rules for coordinating mass-scale events, and all the necessary permissions from the authorities in each particular city are always obtained. The same algorithm was used for organizing the party in Yekaterinburg underground, but we decided to put the party off after receiving a request from the city council yesterday. The new date and venue are to be announced,’ the company said today.

Meanwhile, the underground management denied the mere possibility of holding an advertising campaign event on their premises altogether.

The party was advertised through social networks. The event coordinators promised the invitees ‘an unforgettable, unique party’ that could only be attended if you sent the coordinators your full name, phone number, and e-mail address in a personal message. The so-called Metro-Party was to have started at 1:00 AM; the coordinators report in personal messages that the party had been coordinated with all the authorities and it was even agreed that the underground coaches would be used as chill-out zones.
