Lack of orders stops VSMPO-Avisma’s pipe-welding department
28 March 2012 (12:09)
The pipe-welding department of VSMPO-Avisma Corporation had to stop operating temporarily in early March 2012, Interfax refers to the company as reporting.
‘At the beginning of March, after our order for Korea had been completed, all the jobs within the department were halted. The workers were offered temporary positions at the corporation’s other departments. At the moment, the order portfolio of the pipe-welding department is non-existent. The fact that the department has been left with no orders is sad but not tragic,’ the company reports.
The halt is expected to last until the end of March 2012. The company has already got a contract for 48 tons of welded pipes in April, but this will only take up a half of the department’s production capacity.
