October 28, 2013. The Pipe Electric Welding Department of Pervouralsk New Pipe Plant (PNTZ, a member of ChTPZ Group) is celebrating its 20th anniversary these days. The technological line of the electric welding mill 10-76 was launched in 1993. A year later, the automatic refrigerator pipe line was launched there as well. Later on, the lines for making shock absorbers and section pipes were installed as well.
Director of Department 15 Evgeny Ilyin says that his department is the only one in ChTPZ Group that makes small-diameter pipes of various section kinds.
‘The electric welding department’s produce is used in many sectors of industry, including the heat engineering one, the machine-building one (this means KamAZ, among others), and – partially – the spare car parts for VAZ. We are still Russia’s leading manufacturer of small-diameter pipes for absorbers and refrigerator pipes that are made in Minsk and in Lipetsk,’ Ilyin said.
Under the company’s technical upgrades program, the department’s production facilities undergo ongoing upgrades. In 2010, for example, the refrigerator line was modernized, and in 2011, the furnace meant for thermal treatment of carbonized and low-alloyed pipes was upgraded as well. What is more, the principles of the so-called ‘white metallurgy’ have been implemented in the department since 2011.
