13 February 2012 (09:26)
United Company RUSAL reports they are testing out the new technology aimed at recycling alumina production waste, that is, red mud. Once the testing has been completed, a pilot production unit will be designed and built at Ural smelter. The capacity of the unit will come to up to 200,000 tons of red mud a year; the launch has been scheduled for October 2014.
Apart from UC RUSAL’s Ural smelter, Bogoslovsky smelter, Nikolayevsky alumina works, and UC RUSAL’s foreign alumina plants in Ireland, Guinea, Australia, and Jamaica will also be able to use the innovational machinery and alumina waste recycling technologies.
