Ufaleynickel renovates its fourth converter

Ufaleynickel JSC started overhaul of converter No. 5 located at the company’s smeltery. Within the last week, the preparation of shelerter shell to dismantling was completed including the removal of the wrapper plate, the dust-hood and the end covers and dismantling of operating platforms. The dismantling of the old converter case was executed by means of two cranes. All the scheduled overhaul operations have been carried out in strict accordance with the company’s plan. Ufaleinickel JSC (nickel producer of Ufaley, Chelyabinsk Region) has started reconstruction of its # 3 converter. The repairs include full renovation of casing, replacement of firebox wall and dust hood. The company received innovative fire-bricks from Slovakia on January 26. Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhny Tagil JSC (part of Evraz Group) has recently put into operation the new overhead converter to be used in the oxygen-converter shop. This year, one of Nizhniy Tagil Iron & Steel Works’ converters is expected to reach its full capacity thanks to the reconstruction of the oxygen converter shop, the spokesperson for Evraz Group said to UrBC. A new loading tray is installed and set into operation in the ore and charge conditioning plant of melting shop of Ufaleynickel JSC (nickel producer of Verkhny Ufaley in Chelyabinsk Region), the company’s PR-department reported to UrBC representative. The chute moves the ore from the plant into the melting shop. It opens up a possibility to proceed with ore transportation during any kind of the main tray repairing and hence prevents from interrupting the company’s production operations.
