Nickel Producer of Ufaley repairs converter

Central factory laboratory workers of Ufaleinickel JSC (nickel producer of Ufaley, Chelyabinsk Region) began experimental-industrial processing of nickel carbonate. The repair of pipe furnace № 1 is currently carried out at the burning shop of Ufaleynickel JSC, regional nickel maker. As the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative, the repair will provide for the uninterrupted and efficient performance of the furnace and will also help prevent emergency shutdowns. The repair works will include replacement of lining, bunker, and fire-resistant segments. After the completion of these, the furnace will be immediately put into operation.

The electricians of Ufaleynickel JSC have done the scheduled repair of SBS-1 furnace installed in the hydrometallurgical workshop of the nickel producer. The repair included full replacement of heating spirals, partial replacement of furnace lining and examination of electrical equipment. What is more, the feed and discharge units were also fixed, the company’s spokesperson said to UrBC representative.

Ufaleynickel JSC started overhaul of converter No. 5 located at the company’s smeltery. Within the last week, the preparation of shelerter shell to dismantling was completed including the removal of the wrapper plate, the dust-hood and the end covers and dismantling of operating platforms. The dismantling of the old converter case was executed by means of two cranes. All the scheduled overhaul operations have been carried out in strict accordance with the company’s plan. According to the spokesperson for Ufaleynickel JSC, Chelyabinsk Region, the fourth converter has recently been renovated at the melting shop of the plant. Some vessel lining and replacement of metal parts such as coffer-dams have greatly improved the converter’s capacity.
