MMK launches new plants in Saint Petersburg

UrBC, Saint Petersburg, April 11, 2011. Intercos-IV, a member of MMK Group, started working on the second extension to a service maintenance center and a stamping components plant MMK Intercos in Saint Petersburg.
All the design and development jobs have been completed by now, with the press machinery already ordered and paid for; the delivery is expected to take place in late April. Besides, the construction jobs and the engineering work have already started.
Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) is also working on making sure the new metal products will be welcomed by their future consumers, that is, car makers and white goods manufacturers.
The second extension to the maintenance center is estimated to require a total of about 4 billion RUR worth of investments. Once finished, the center will process 110,000 tons of metal a year.
The first section of MMK Intercos started operating in November 2010. This department’s total annual output is to exceed 250,000 tons of metal goods.
The produce of Intercos-IV is mainly aimed at automakers, white goods manufacturers, the building industry, shipbuilding and a number of other industries. Its sheet products, stamped parts and components are meant for the automobile plants currently under construction and the ones already operating, as well as for their suppliers. These target companies are: Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, Nissan Motor, Hyundai Motor Company, Renault Group, Volkswagen, PSA, Magna, Johnson Controls, Tenneco, and others, as well as household goods makers like Bosch und Siemens Hausgerate GmbH, LG Corp. and Indesit Company.
