British Ambassador visits UMMC

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Russian Federation Anne Pringle and a delegation of officials from the UK Consulate General in Yekaterinburg visited OAO Uralelectromed (Ural Mining & Metallurgical Company’s asset) and met the company’s Director Vladimir Kolotushkin.

This is the fifth time Anne Pringle has come to the Urals, but the Ambassador has never been to the premises of UMMC or Uralelectromed before. The British official looked at the chemical & metallurgical and the copper wire rod shops.

‘UMMC is one of Russia’s major metallurgical holdings, and it is well-known for its excellent social welfare programs,’ the Ambassador said. As a matter of fact, she actually visited UMMC Sports Palace, one of the company’s socially important projects.

The British Ambassador to Russia asked Vladimir Kolotushkin to tell her how the business was coping with the global economic recession. Uralelectromed’s Director said the company was rather quick to adapt to the new economic conditions and managed to keep up with the normal production performance.

‘The company is currently implementing a number of marketing events in order to promote our produce on the foreign markets,’ he added.
