The Human Resources Department of Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won in the fifth All-Russian HR of the Year contest.

The competition is targeted at highlighting and sharing personnel management experience as well as at public promotion of the country’s most efficient HR departments.

MMK’s PR Department reports the competition Board spoke very highly of MMK’s impressive personnel policies that rely on modern methods and formats.

‘Employee retention and providing workers with jobs under the recession is the main positive outcome of the enterprise’s crisis-defying action plan adopted late last year. The construction of Mill 5000 and the polymeric coating unit created jobs for the employees despite the dropping production outputs. What is more, the launch of these new facilities resulted in over 1,500 new jobs. Then, more than 20,000 people are to undergo training, retraining, and professional development programs this year, while 3,000 more workers will receive sideline qualifications,’ the company reports.
