Sberbank’s Ural branch in Kurgan gave out prizes to the winners of the bank’s special offer lottery called ‘Time to Shop with Sberbank of Russia’.

All of the bank’s cardholders who used those to pay for at least 300 RUR worth of shopping or services by their bank card in September and October 2008 were automatically placed on the potential prize-winners list. At the end of the offer, 200 customers of Sberbank’s Ural branch in Kurgan received 300 RUR in their bank card accounts.

‘Andrey Popov was definitely the most frequent bank card user, as he paid for over fifty purchases by his card. Therefore he was also entitled to gift certificate that could be used at a travel agent’s, the spokesperson for the bank reports.

‘This was the apartment remodeling that helped me win. I had to buy a lot of building materials, and using a card is extremely convenient since you don’t have to carry large sums of money around,’ the winner explained.

‘Some presents (gift certificates to cosmetics stores) were also given to shop employees who performed the greatest number of acquiring transactions throughout the offer period. As it happened, the bank cards were most often used in Monetka in Zaozerniy, Rosneft’s filling stations, at Palermo and Santa Fe (the restaurants) and London Pub, and Palmira and ProSvyaz chain stores,’ the spokesperson adds.

Over 190,000 dwellers of Kurgan Region hold Sberbank’s card now; the regional subsidiary keeps on expanding its ATM network (reaching 160 machines and self-service devices at the moment) and acquiring infrastructure. The bank’s card is now accepted in 300 regional stores, with the weekly transaction turnover coming to over 7 million RUR.
