Ural Airlines staff donates money to South Ossetia’s victims

Ural Airlines’ employees decided to donate their day’s pay to war victims in South Ossetia.

‘Even though the war is over, thousands of people have lost their relatives as well as their homes. Russia has welcomed over 34,000 refugees already. The children are having a particularly hard time, as they need the adults’ help. This is why we transferred our day’s pay to the account meant for the children of South Ossetia. The idea was originally proposed by the company’s management and supported by flight attendants, pilots, and air-technical safety specialists,’ Ural Airlines’ press officer says.

‘I’ve been to Ossetia and I saw the damage caused by the first war, so I remember how hard it was for the locals to have everything restored. That’s why I suggested that everyone in the company should try and help in whatever way they could. I am very happy that people supported my idea,’ says Customer Service and Luggage Control Director Lyudmila Povalishina.

The money will be transferred into the special account at the end of September 2008 when the company’s pay day comes.
