Rostechnadzor detects environmental offenses

Ural Federal District’s division of Rostechnadzor (the state technological, nuclear, and environmental watchdog) carried out seventy-four inspections of various enterprises to check these companies’ compliance with the environmental legislation in January-March 2008, Rostechnadzor’s press officer reports.


The local division of Rostechnadzor found out that Uralpredmet, Irbit-based motorcycle plant, Sinarskiy overhaul factory, Iset (the electric connector manufacturer), and a plant dealing in nonferrous casting were guilty of certain environmental offenses. As a result, the state body had to impose administrative punishment on 108 points (including 36 punishments imposed on the basis of the public prosecution authorities’ papers) and make the offenders pay a total of 1,344,000 RUR in terms of fines.


Apart from this, six claims were laid against Petropavlovskiy lime pit, Serov-based concrete goods plant and metallurgical plant, Bogoslovskoye mine group, and some other enterprises for the negative impact they are making on the environment. The claims come to 600,000 RUR.
