UralmashSpetsstal Ltd., part of Spetsstall Ltd. belonging to United Machine Building Works, has been negotiating with Arcelor Mittal for strategic cooperation. The two companies are hoping to sign a three-year agreement for the supply of 3,000 tons of hot and cold rolled rolls annually.

UralmashSpetsstal Ltd. currently has almost 1bn RUR worth of supply contracts, half of which is made up by export ones. The company is planning to increase its export share to 60% next year. It started producing new types of shrouded rolls with enhanced chromium content in 2005; some experts managed to design and put into mass production over 20 new kinds of steel with 3% to 5% chromium content and with more alloys that provide for a longer life of the roll (up to 1.5 to 2 times)

The enterprise produces four types of steel forged rolls: backup rolls and working rolls obtained through hot and cold rolling and used in the rolling mills for making different kinds of rolled metal, ranging from the finest sheet metal to thick plates and large billets, reports the spokesperson for United Machine Building Works.
