Local phone operator to unsubscribe landline debtors on September 12

13 September 2006 (12:48)

UralSvyazInfrom, the local phone operator, is going to unsubscribe its landline users with debts on September 12, 2006, which covers the total of 35,020 subscribers as of September 1, 2006.

The procedure is expected to be phased out and will last until September 21. Some 2,000 users will be unsubscribed daily. In order to avoid this, the clients of the company must pay the last bill before September 11.

The Federal law on telecommunication and the terms of the company’s service agreements state that the subscribers shall pay their bills in due time, with the deadline indicated on the monthly bill sent to every user. Should the subscriber fail to pay this bill, he or she gets on the debtors list automatically and his or her landline is unsubscribed until the bill is fully paid. The re-subscribing process may take a few days due to the need to compile the general list of ‘reformed debtors’, so these users will have to make do without the phone for the time being.
