Yuzhnaya mine of Vysokogorsky Ore Mining and Processing Enterprise (member of Evraz Group) has introduced a new Sbor system for notification of mine-rescue crews in cases of emergency.

According to the company’s PR-department, before the introduction of Sbor, the helmet crews were called via mobile phones. If no phones were available, a service truck was sent for mine-rescue specialists, which was rather time-consuming. The new system is a transmitter able to signal within a range of 70 kilometers in a few seconds. The transmitter is delivered as a unit with 25 pagers, and this number may be increased up to 40 pagers if needed. Assistant rescue station-master can send a message to the pagers of mine-rescue specialists via the transmitter thus notifying them promptly of any relevant events. The notification system can be reprogrammed to fit specific conditions of the rescue station operations.
