Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhny Tagil completes construction of blast furnace No. 5

Nizhetagilsky Metallurgichesky Kombinat JSC (NTMK, Metallurgical Industrial Complex of Nizhny Tagil), member of Evraz Group, is completing construction of blast furnace No. 5. According to the company’s PR-department, the furnace is to be set into operation before the end of the year.
The rebuilt blast furnace No. 5 will produce about 1.7m tons of cast iron annually. At the moment, the furnace construction is at the stage of mounting air-blowing filters (70% of operations completed). The filters are 1.5 times more powerful than those mounted at the blast-furnace No. 6 that complies with environmental pre-requisites. Environmental investments exceed 20% of the blast furnace No. 5 construction project costs.
