Moscow, Moscow Region: Self-Isolation for All
31 March 2020 (09:13)
UrBC, Moscow, March 31, 2020. Everyone living in Moscow and Moscow Region must go into self-isolation in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19; the executive decrees to this effect were issued by Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and Governor of Moscow Region Andrei Vorobyev, TASS reports.
This means, among other things, that people may only leave their home in order to seek medical assistance or in case of a life/health emergency. They can also go to work if their work is declared essential, go out to get groceries in the nearest supermarket/store, go to a drugstore, or walk their dogs. The dogs can only be walked within 100 meters of the building. People are also allowed to take out the trash.
Sobyanin’s decree also introduces a number of other restrictions: when going outside, or shopping, or taking a bus/tram/subway, social distancing (1.5 meters at least) is a must. A taxi ride is the only exception to this rule. Supermarkets, drugstores, and any other establishments that people go to must enforce social distancing rules by placing special signs and markings on the floors and controlling for the number of people inside at any given moment. The same measures apply to Moscow Region as well.
