Yekaterinburg’s Smart City Experience to Help Digitize Sverdlovsk Region’s Towns
11 April 2019 (09:09)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 11, 2019. The Smart City Project implemented in Yekaterinburg’s District Akademicheskiy will be used as the basis for digitizing other towns in Sverdlovsk Region and Russia on the whole, Sverdlovsk Region’s Vice Governor Sergei Bidonko announced in the course of Smart City 2019/Digital Transformations in Energy & Utilities Sector Exhibition/Forum.
When asked about the recent agreement Sverdlovsk Region Government signed with Rostelecom on launching the Smart City Project in Kamensk-Uralsky and Polevskoy, Bidonko said the Smart City solutions had been tried out successfully in the area before.
‘Sverdlovsk Region has been drifting towards digitization for a few years now. The things that have acquired a national project status today have been implemented in District Akademicheskiy for several years already: 100% dispatcher control, video surveillance, and resource accounting. This experience helped the authorities decide to expand the Smart City concepts throughout the entire country. We used to work on our own, but now that we have this agreement with Rostelecom, we’ll be able to do more, so two more towns in Sverdlovsk Region will embark on the joint digitization program as well,’ Bidonko is quoted as saying.
