UrBC, Chelyabinsk, February 15, 2019. The Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) extended the bank guarantees available to its Chelyabinsk-based partner company GiraffeCranes (GIRAFFE) to RUB 448 million.

According to the bank’s press service, they are willing to back up the company’s obligations towards Rosatom State Corporation (GiraffeCranes must supply a number of unique cranes to the construction site of Kurskaya Nuclear Power Plant 2 in Kurchatovsky, Kursk Region). The cranes will be used to put up the walls of power-generating units in the reactor section of the plant.

This is the third contract Chelyabinsk company has signed with Rosatom’s daughter enterprises, and all of these contracts have been secured by the UBRD’s guarantees. As for this particular contract, five bank guarantees have been issued since the start of 2019 (total amount: over RUB 133.9 million). These guarantees back up the company’s obligations to supply and set up two tower cranes at Kurskaya Nuclear Power Plant 2.

In 2017, the UBRD also issued eleven guarantees (total amount: RUB 300 million) to secure the contract for the delivery of five tower cranes onto the nuclear plant’s construction site. In 2018, GiraffeCranes signed their second contract for the construction and delivery of three tower cranes on the site; this second contract also got the bank’s backing (total amount: RUB 223.2 million). Some of these bank guarantees have by now been settled.
