26 November 2018 (09:25)

UrBC, Moscow, November 26, 2018. The Japanese car manufacturer Mazda is calling 62,357 automobiles off the Russian market due to potential airbag issues, Rosstat reports.

‘The cars are being called off as higher humidity levels might cause body defects in the front passenger airbags’ gas generators, which might result in incorrect airbag activation in case of a collision. Also, a defect in the gas generator body might result in metal splinters hurting the driver or the passengers and cause severe injuries or death,’ Rosstat says.

Called off are Mazda 2, Mazda 6, Mazda CX-7, and Mazda BT-50. The front passenger airbag gas generators will get replaced at no extra cost to the car owners.
