MMK Wins Import Substitution Contest

UrBC, Magnitogorsk, November 21, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) won the national import substitution Prioritet 2018 Prize in Metallurgy. The company got awarded for SteelArt, a unique polymeric rolled steel product made at MMK Group’s Lysva Metallurgical Plant.
According to MMK’s Information & PR Department, SteelArt is a kind of polymeric rolled product with decorative coating that closely imitates the look and feel of natural materials. The product has no counterparts on the Russian market at the moment. The photo-offset method-based Print Technology that is used for making SteelArt produce makes it possible to get decorative coatings that look like various natural materials or reproduce original designer prints. The up-to-date, hi tech equipment ensures the best print quality and a multi-color, 3D synchronized image.
MMK Lysva Metallurgical Plant that makes SteelArt products joined MMK Group last December and has increased its output considerably since then. In the nine months of 2018 alone, the plant sold 121% more ready goods than in January-September 2017; for one, its SteelArt produce sales soared 324% (11,000,000 kg in three quarters of 2018).
