UrBC, Vladikavkaz, October 23, 2018. North Ossetia-Alanya’s public prosecution authorities are now investigating a fire outbreak at Ural Mining & Metallurgical Company’s ElectroZinc in Vladikavkaz. The investigation is meant to evaluate the actions taken by the people in charge at the plant, TASS reports.
‘An investigation is taking place to look into the fire; once it has been completed, an assessment of the plant’s management’s actions will be issued,’ a public prosecution authorities representative is quoted as telling TASS.
The fire broke out at the plant’s electrolysis shop on October 21 and covered some 4,500 m2. One firefighter got killed, two injured, with no civilian casualties.
According to Kommersant, the fire caused panic in town, as people were encouraged, via social media, to take steps towards emergency evacuation. The Ministry of Emergencies reported at 3:33 PM on October 21 that the fire had been put out.
