UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 09, 2018. Russia’s largest coke-chemical enterprise, EVRAZ Holding’s West Siberian Integrated Metallurgical Works (ZSMK) got founded fifty-five years ago this month. To celebrate the occasion, a sculpture portraying a coke-maker was cast at the plant’s foundry department. The statue weighs around 10,000 kg and is, together with the bas-relief pieces, six meters tall.

According to the company press service, EVRAZ ZSMK makes more than 3,500,000,000 kg of coke every year and thus fully covers the plant’s furnace department’s needs. The plant also puts out the chemical products that enjoy good market demand: these are the coal tar fuel, the coal tar asphalt, the carbon oil, the ammonium sulphate, the phenylmethane, and the tar camphor that get obtained during coal charge coking and coke gas filtering.

EVRAZ ZSMK keeps on upgrading its coke-chemical production facilities. For one, the up-to-date ceramic welding technology is used for repairing coke-oven plants now. Also, the coal tar now gets shipped in a new type of tank containers that meets Russian Railways’ coal oil transportation requirements.

The plant has produced nearly 200,000,000,000 kg of coke and over 260,000,000,000 kg of coal concentrate since the year it was first launched.
