UrBC, Yekaterinburg, June 6, 2018. Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuivashev asked the constituency’s respective ministries to consider setting up a united atomedics center in Yekaterinburg to facilitate diagnostics and treatment of cancer with the help of promising Russian developments, Sverdlovsk Region’s Information Policy Department reports.

The Governor said at a radiation medicine-focused meeting on June 4 that the Mid-Urals had all the facilities and potential to set up a pilot skills center for diagnostics and treatment of cancer.

‘Sverdlovsk Region has been good partners with Rosatom Corporation, the nationwide network of PET Technology centers, and a number of medical schools. Besides, there are several pharmaceutical businesses and companies dealing in atomedics equipment in the area. Our Reactor Materials Institute got supported by Sverdlovsk Region Industry Tech Development Foundation last year. According to Ural Federal University’s Rector Viktor Koksharov, the college has plenty of unique experience and scientific developments that can lay the foundation for UFU Cyclotron Nuclear Medicine Center,’ Kuivashev said.
