MMK To Direct RUR 120m to Resource Management Personalization
5 April 2018 (09:33)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, April 5, 2018. Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) has been working on Resource Management Personalization Initiative since last year to introduce a system of micro cost centers at the company’s production departments, MMK press service reports.
‘The goal is not so much to save money on energy spending as to establish a closer connection between a worker and a piece of equipment they operate, to make them more aware of their personal contribution to the overall performance and of their importance and responsibility. This works: our departments actually started saving considerable energy resources, while their teams grew more proactive and more involved in the technological process,’ says MMK R&D Center’s Senior Innovations Expert Danila Tselikanov.
The initiative has proved most successful at four sites so far: Sheet-Rolling Departments 5 and 10, Blast Furnace Department, and Central Power Station. Together, these departments have saved the company around RUR 77.7m in reduced energy spending, with premiums at RUR 1.5m. Thanks to the project, the plant saves RUR 6.5m a month on average, with premiums at RUR 140,000 to RUR 150,000.
A number of Russian and Ukrainian metallurgical companies have already expressed their interest in MMK’s unique experience.
