Russia’s Rice Supply Halves

UrBC, Moscow, November 22, 2017. The amount of rice stored in Russia’s warehouses and processing facilities shrank by 45.8% in the course of one year, down to 32,000,000 kg as of November 1, 2017, Rosstat reports.
At the same time, these November figures are 2.7 times better than those for October 2017. On the whole, the share of rice stock comes to 0.2% of all grain supplies in the country.
The supply of corn also declined by 23.6%, down to 1,011,000,000 kg, that of millet by 19.1%, down to 27,000,000 kg. The share of corn and millet stock comes to 5.1% and 0.1% of all grain supplies in the country, respectively.
The rest of grain supplies actually increased throughout the year. The increase was most pronounced for wheat (+27.9%, up to 11,038,000,000 kg), whose share of stock comes to 55.2% of all grain supplies in the country.
All in all, the country had 20,000,000,000 kg of grain supplies as of November 1, 2017, which is 16% more than one year earlier. Another 36,355,800,000 kg get stored by agribusinesses, which also exceeds the figures for one year earlier by 16%.
