UrBC, Yekaterinburg, October 20, 2017. The 3d Urals’ Steel Cup Men’s Volleyball Championship closed in Nizhniy Tagil yesterday. The championship was set up in the memory of Ivan Romazan, a well-known metallurgical engineer, EVRAZ Holding Ural’s PR Department reports.
‘In the final round of the championship, EVRAZ Nizhniy Tagil Integrated Metallurgical Works (NTMK) team played against Chelyabinsk Integrated Metallurgical Works’ Mechel. NTMK’s team won 3:1. EVRAZ Holding’s Uralvagonzavod’s team also won the fourth prize,’ the Department says.
EVRAZ NTMK’s team comprises workers from the plant’s converter shop, blast furnace departments, and coke-chemical production facilities. Steel-smelting operator Valeriy Tyutyunik has been captain for about a decade now.
EVRAZ NTMK and EVRAZ KGOK Managing Director Alexei Kushnarev and Chelyabinsk Region’s PE & Sports Minister Leonid Oder attended the sports players’ awarding ceremony.
‘Championships like this help industrial enterprises from neighboring territories become better friends and partners. I’m happy to see NTMK team beat very strong rivals,’ Kushnarev said.
‘I was delighted to get invited to Nizhniy Tagil and see the games. It’s great that sports bring metallurgical and machine-building industry workers together: this means they both work efficiently and have a healthy lifestyle,’ Oder said.
The Urals’ Steel Cup Championship has been held every year since 2015. The event is dedicated to the Russian metallurgist Ivan Romazan. This year, EVRAZ NTMK got to host the competition. One year earlier, the event was hosted by Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works.
