UrBC, Yekaterinburg, September 15, 2017. EVRAZ Holding supplied over 800,000 kg of rails to Nizhniy Novgorod; the rails will be used to build a connection to Strelka Underground Station.
Strelka will be the last station on the Sormovsko-Mescherskaya Line that will ensure an underground link for yet another one of the city’s districts. EVRAZ Holding’s West-Siberian Integrated Metallurgical Works (ZSMK) made 25-meter-long R50 rails for this.
‘Strelka Station is one of the priority components of the city’s infrastructure and is Nizhniy Novgorod Underground’s 15th station. The construction is to be completed in time for the World Football Championship that Russia is hosting next year. One of the station entrances will lead directly to the new stadium,’ EVRAZ Holding’s press service says.
Building jobs are currently in full progress at the construction site. The first, pilot train will head for Strelka in March 2018, with the commissioning of the station scheduled for next spring.
EVRAZ actually supplied rails for most of the country’s undergrounds as well as for those located abroad. Underground trains in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Taiwan all run on EVRAZ rails.
