Russia’s Car Imports Down 12.7%

UrBC, Moscow, August 3, 2017. Car dealers imported 96,500 cars to Russia in the first half of 2017, which was 12.7% less than one year earlier, Avtostat refers to the Federal Customs Service as stating.
The Japanese brand Toyota proved the most popular imported automobile in the first half of the year (18,500 units, down 41.5% on a year earlier): 20% of all cars imported to the country within the given period were various Toyota makes. Mercedes-Benz (17,400 units, +4,4% on a year earlier) came second: its share on the imported automobile market was 18%. The Japanese brand Lexus was among the top three best-selling imported brands (11,500 units, up 7.5% on a year earlier), with its share of the imported car market at almost 12%.
As for specific makes, Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is currently No.1 (6,200 units, +17.8% on a year earlier), followed by Lexus RX (4,700 units, +26.5%) and Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class (3,200 units, +41.6%).
