Sverdlovsk Region Authorities Make Employers Pay Wages

20 July 2017 (13:48)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 20, 2017. Deputy Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Alexei Orlov chaired a meeting on complaints Sverdlovsk Region-based workers recently placed with Russian President Vladimir Putin; the complaints all have to do with employers failing to pay the workers’ wages in time, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region’s Information Policy Department reports.

The meeting participants dwelled on the wage arrears at Elmash (UETM), as the company workers complained to Vladimir Putin about the delays.

The plant’s CFO Natalya Bogdanova said the company did struggle with certain wage arrears, but they were, on the whole, doing fine, with growing production output and 1.5bn RUR worth of orders, which means the plant will have enough work to do for at least a year to come.

‘The monthly wage fund comes to 34m RUR, the arrears amount to 14.5m RUR. All our employees are to get their June wages in full before the end of this week, that is, July 21,’ she said.

Sverdlovsk Region’s Deputy Prosecutor-General Dmitri Chulichkov stressed the liability the company management can face if the delayed wages do not get paid out and warned about the consequences of failing to pay on time again in the future.
