Russian Copper Company Upgrades MAERZ Filter

3 July 2017 (12:10)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, July 3, 2017. Russian Copper Company’s Novgorod Metallurgical Plant based in Velikiy Novgorod is currently busy repairing the gas filter of its Maerz kiln, the company press service reports.

This FRI 1500 filter is meant for trapping exhaust gases; the repairs and upgrades did not require any production halts. While the filter is being repaired, a similar filter from the plant’s converter replaced the original item temporarily. The goal is to fit FRI 1500 with more advances and efficient filtering components and renovate its bearing structure.

The repair jobs are expected to be over by early July.

‘Maerz kilns cannot operate without an exhaust gas filter, as the filter is crucial to ensuring job and environmental safety. Once the filter has been repaired and upgraded, it will catch exhaust gases even more efficiently,’ says the plant’s Environmental Protection Director Nadezhda Zingaleva.
