Magnitogorsk Hosts Relay Race

26 June 2017 (13:37)

UrBC, Chelyabinsk, June 26, 2017. A relay race for school-age children was hosted at I.Kh. Romazan Sports Palace in Magnitogorsk, Magnitogorsk Iron & Steel Works (MMK) reports.

The relay race was dedicated to MMK’s 85th anniversary, so the entire event was industrially themed: the children were divided in work crews rather than regular teams, and the judges on the panel acted as heads of production departments. Interestingly enough, the location was also chosen for a reason, as the sports palace was put up by the plant and named after one of MMK’s most honored Directors Ivan Romazan.

‘Quite a few of these children’s parents are employed with the plant, so taking part in a metallurgical relay race makes it all the more interesting. The kids were happy to both join in the quests and to learn something new about the metallurgical sector jobs. They were told about the ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgical production and about the jobs of a blast furnace operator, steel-smelter, and figure-caster. There were no losers in the game, as every race participant was treated to some sweets and left with a boost of positive vibes,’ MMK press service says.
