UrBC, Yekaterinburg, May 18, 2017. Acting Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuivashev met with Ambassador Extraordinary & Plenipotentiary of Finland to Russia Mikko Hautala and a group of Finnish delegates to discuss a number of possible joint projects and localization of energy, agricultural, timber-processing, and pharmaceutical enterprises in the area, Governor of Sverdlovsk Region’s Information Policy Department reports.
Sverdlovsk Region and Finland’s overall trade turnover amounted to $40m this year so far, with Finland remaining one of the constituency’s most reliable trade and economic partners in the EU.
Kuivashev stressed that the many decades of the two parties’ cooperation resulted in vast experience of joint work in housing and hotel construction and other industries. Finnish technologies and equipment are used to upgrade local metallurgical and timber-processing enterprises. Also, Finland supplies medical equipment to clinics in the area.
‘I am confident we have great prospects together. Introducing local production sites looks like a particularly promising field to focus on. For one, we could set up joint ventures in energy, agricultural, chemical goods, pharmaceutical, and timber-processing sectors. Sverdlovsk Region can offer ready-to-use production sites, including our Titanium Valley Special Economic Zone and industrial parks with tax relief options,’ Kuivashev said.
