1 March 2017 (15:43)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, March 1, 2017. Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s head plant’s museum facility is currently hosting 21st Century Art, an exhibition featuring presents given to the company by its Russian and international partners, the company press service reports.

These are all gifts presented to Ural Vagon Zavod after the year 2000. There are some sixty exhibits altogether, including arts and crafts works, paintings, sculptures, and autographed books.

‘The exhibition is an opportunity to see paintings executed in all kinds of styles and techniques, with every piece presenting a unique plot. These are works by Leonty Zudov, Mikhail Shemyakin, Vladimir Istomin, Natalia Uteshina, and Viktor Mogilevich. A painting by Russia’s Honored Artist and Chukotka’s Honorary Citizen Vladimir Istomin, for example, is a story on the unique lifestyle of the indigenous people of Russia’s Polar North.

‘Visitors can also a see a unique book that came out in the late thirties and books with autographs by celebrities, including the world’s first astronaut Yuri Gagarin, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and the poet Bulat Okudzhava. A volume with Gagarin’s autograph was given to the plant by a Uralcryomash employee, who went to Baikonur on a business trip in the sixties and happened to see Gagarin playing football with his pals. The man wasn’t too shy to ask the first space traveler for an autograph,’ the press service says.
