Yekaterinburg to Get New Traffic Plan in 2019

8 February 2017 (13:26)

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, February 8, 2017. A new public traffic plan will be introduced in Yekaterinburg in 2019 rather than next year, the city council’s press service quotes Mayor Alexander Yakob as saying.

‘The new traffic network project is already in its final development stage, but we still need to take a few steps to ensure a successful launch, which is why it was decided to postpone the introduction deadline,’ Yakob said.

According to Yakob, the traffic plan will have to be adjusted so as to take into account the feedback provided by both the general public and the transport experts. Ad hoc teams were set up to work on every aspect of the project in order to consider all the proposals. This is expected to take around a year.

‘The new traffic plan will be implemented in several stages to avoid mistakes in the process. First, all the transport infrastructure will be set up, including special bus lanes, bus and tram stops and changing points, and CCTV cameras. A special focus will be made on informing the public about all the news and setting up information points,’ Yakob said.
