3 November 2016 (14:26)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, November 3, 2016. Beloyarskaya Nuclear Power Station’s newest Power-Generating Unit 4 with fast-fission reactor BN 800 has been approved for industrial use, the stations press service reports.
A decree to this effect was signed by Rosenergoatom’s Director-General Andrei Petrov on October 31, 2016, shortly after Rosatom Corporation issued its approval. This was preceded by all the necessary checks on the regulatory authority Rostechnadzor’s part that proved the facility meets all the technical and legal requirements and energy efficiency regulations.
Power-Generating Unit 4 with BN 800 reactor was first introduced to the country’s united energy network and started producing electric power on December 10, 2015. Throughout the year 2016, the reactor got tested at increasingly larger workloads and under various operation modes.
All the trial runs got rounded up in August 2016 with a fifteen-day tryout at 100% of the reactor’s projected capacity; it was proven that the power-generating unit can operate stably and deal with its maximum workload in full compliance with the set technical parameters.
