UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 24, 2016. The telecommunications provider MegaFon issued a bank card that has no counterparts anywhere in the world at the moment, the company press service reports.

The bank card is unique in that the card account is the mobile phone number account; MegaFon subscribers can use the thing to pay for products and services at any place that accepts MasterCards (the brand with a very expansive acquiring network). The money will be thus written off from one’s mobile phone account balance.

Starting from August 23, customers can apply for the card at MegaFon outlets in Moscow, Moscow Region, Saint Petersburg, Yaroslavl, Tver, Kaliningrad, Murmansk, Arkhangelsk, and Vologda; starting from October 1, the offer will be available throughout the entire country.

The cards operate on MasterCard Contactless Technology; the very first ones were presented to the 2016 Olympic winners in fencing Sofia Velikaya, Yana Yegoryan, and Ekaterina Dyachenko and a renowned saxophone player Igor Butman.

MegaFon cards, issued by Round Bank, meet all the standard safety requirements. Besides, the company offers a special app to block all unwanted (or not consciously realized) subscriptions free of charge. This means the card owners are securely protected against money getting suddenly written off their account balance.
