22 August 2016 (13:49)
UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 22, 2016. A new horizontal honing machine got launched at Ural Vagon Zavod Corporation’s Plant 9, the company press service reports.
The mill is meant for high-precision treatment of rotary components’ internal cylinders and is expected to improve the produce quality considerably.
‘The new machine replaced the older foreign mills that have been around for a few decades now and grown obsolete. These older units were mostly mechanical, while this one is numerically controlled. Our mill operators, technicians, and Technocenter engineers underwent special training shortly after the mill got installed and assembled,’ the press service says.
The honing machine has a protective fence around it to ensure the mill operator’s safety. According to the plant’s Senior Engineer’s Department, this is a standard measure for today’s industrial enterprises, as many of the mills are fully automated and therefore the presence of anyone but authorized personnel is strictly forbidden.
