Yekaterinburg: New School Opens in Akademichesky

UrBC, Yekaterinburg, August 17, 2016. A new school built with money from the national educational establishment expansion program opened in Yekaterinburg on August 16. This is School 23 in Akademichesky District, big enough for 1,000 students, UrBC reporter says.

The solemn opening ceremony was attended by Governor of Sverdlovsk Region Evgeny Kuivashev, Head of Yekaterinburg Council Alexander Yakob, the State Duma Deputy Alexander Petrov and Sverdlovsk Region Legislative Assembly Deputy Anatoly Nikiforov.

‘This is one of the very first school-building projects implemented upon the President’s decrees and with funds provided from a number of different sources. I hope more other schools will be opened in the next few years as well,’ Yakob said.

The school building took around two years to complete. 1.1bn RUR were supplied for the purpose from the national, Sverdlovsk Region’s, and municipality’s budgets. An extension to the school, big enough for 875 students, is expected to open by the end of 2017.
