UBRD Improves ATM Performance

8 August 2016 (12:58)

UrBC,Yekaterinburg, August 8, 2016. The Ural Bank for Reconstruction & Development (UBRD) worked with Meta Model to introduce a new ATM cash control system and thus improve its performance, the bank’s press service reports.

The new software computer-models cash spending processes throughout the bank’s ATM network and assesses amount of cash needed per machine given the customer traffic. This allows for a more efficient and better planned cash supply and withdrawal and cuts down on the number of cases when a customer finds there is no more cash in the machine. Additionally, thanks to the new system, the amount of money not used by the end of the day has gone down by 20%.

UBRD IT Strategic Development Director Mikhail Sverdlov says the bank now has a very handy tool to control the business process efficiency.

‘Cash transactions can now get planned more efficiently, which spares us a number of costly trips to remote ATMs. We can model our ATM maintenance visits in the logistically cleverest way and put in exactly as much cash as is necessary for the best performance. This means the bank saves up to 100m RUR daily,’ Sverdlov says.

The system also makes it possible to predict the demand for cash on usual days such as bank holidays.

The UBRD currently operates 1,226 ATMs throughout the country.
