The bank’s press service explains the rang of the options this card type provides got updated in December. The changes involved a 3% increase in the cash-back amount when the card is used to pay for one’s shopping at pharmacies and filling stations. As a result, over 40m RUR have been transferred to customers’ accounts as cash-back payments since the start of the year.

According to the UBRD Card Management Director Alexei Piskunov, the cash-back option allows you to save money and thus promotes paying by card rather than in cash.

‘Our customers currently spend 2,000 to 5,000 RUR a month at pharmacies and gas-filling stations. Provided they have a loyalty card, our cash-back cards give them an extra 3% discount,’ Piskunov said.

So far, the greatest one-time amount of cash given back at a pharmacy came to 8,400 RUR, that given back at a gas station came to 2,000 RUR.
